GWO - Basic Safety Training

Purpose:

The Global Wind Organisation’s (GWO) Basic Safety Training (BST) is designed to equip industrial workers with the essential skills and knowledge required to ensure safety in their work environments. Despite being tailored initially for wind turbine operators, this certified program is highly relevant for all industrial workers. The comprehensive training encompasses key safety aspects such as working at heights, first aid, manual handling, and fire awareness, aiming to significantly reduce workplace accidents and enhance overall safety culture.

Learning Outcome:

  1. Work at Height Training: Participants will learn how to properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), work safely at heights, and perform basic rescues from height in remote environments. This training includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills application.
  2. First Aid Training: Participants will gain the ability to recognize signs and symptoms of life-threatening situations and provide effective first aid. They will learn techniques to save lives and prevent further injury until professional medical help arrives.
  3. Manual Handling Training: This module will teach participants safe manual handling techniques to minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. They will learn to perform manual tasks in a way that reduces the likelihood of injury.
  4. Fire Awareness Training: Participants will learn how to prevent fires, make informed decisions during fire emergencies, manage personnel evacuation, and use basic firefighting equipment to extinguish initial fires when it is safe to do so.
