Introduction:

It is critical that those involved in making confined space entries are qualified and experienced, and thus trained in the associated hazards, which unfortunately is not always the case. It is also a natural impulsive reaction to rush in and assist a colleague who has collapsed within an enclosed space. Unfortunately, this is one of the leading causes of fatalities, as more than half of all workers who die in confined spaces are attempting to rescue other workers who have become trapped.

Learning Outcomes of Confined Space Entry training

By the end of the course an employee would be aware of the following:

·        Enclosed Space Entry Procedures.

·        Types and importance of ventilation.

·        Atmosphere testing and monitoring.

·        Space preparation for entry.

·        Rescue arrangements and resuscitation equipment at the entrance.

·        Supervisory control and experienced person in attendance at the entrance.

·        Communication arrangements between the supervisor and entrants.

·        Safe access and illumination.

·        Personal protective equipment.

·        Breathing apparatus.

·        Permit to Work.

·        Training requirements for Confined Space Entry.

·        Emergency Drills.

·        Actions by Emergency Rescue Team in the event of an emergency.

The training sessions would be as per industrial guidelines and best practices.

Who can take the Confined Space Entry training?

Every worker that enters a confined space must have hands-on training as an essential part of CSE training. Supervisor and all workers with emergency rescue responsibilities will need additional specialized training.
