This course is designed to provide learners with the information and skills necessary to do basic scaffolding safely and effectively. The purpose of the safety course is to provide a comprehensive overview of the safety standards for scaffoldings used in the construction industry as well as instruction on how to protect workers and other individuals from the risks and hazards associated with erecting, using, and dismantling scaffoldings.
Introduction:
The risk of an accident increases dramatically whenever a
worker leaves the ground. Scaffolding (supported or suspended) is a temporary
structure made of wooden planks and metal poles that is used by construction
workers to construct, repair, or clean a structure.
Experienced scaffold workers can make the job appear simple
from below, where the observer has both feet on the ground, but it isn't.
Workers can be hundreds of metres above the ground, with only a metal framework
between them and the ground, working in windy conditions. Because so much can
go wrong while working on scaffolding, scaffolding training is essential.

Who can take the Basic Scaffolding training?
This course is
designed as an introductory, awareness level course, for any worker who will be
working in or around scaffolding. In most cases this will pertain to the
construction or maintenance of buildings, but can also include any type of work
being done at height, where the worker will need an elevated, flat surface.
Benefits of Basic Scaffolding training
This training helps
participants understand the dangers of working with scaffolds, and how these
risks can be minimized by regular inspection and supervising the correct ways
to erect, maintain, use scaffolding equipment.
