Introduction
This course focuses on safe practices and procedures while
instructing operators on the operational and maintenance elements of industrial
wastewater treatment facilities. The significance and obligations of an
industrial treatment plant operator are discussed, along with the reasons why
industrial and municipal wastewaters need to be treated, industrial waste
regulations, sources of industrial waste, strategies for preventing and
reducing waste at the source, and industrial waste monitoring. Operators gain
knowledge of how to use and maintain flow measurement equipment, pre-treatment
procedures, physical-chemical procedures, pressure and gravity filters and
procedures for treating metal waste streams. Additionally, operators will learn
how to use and maintain the systems and equipment for treatment plant
instrumentation. Detailed safety protocols and plant maintenance are covered in
later chapters. This training educates operators to identify and resolve operational
issues with an emphasis on real-world operating procedures.
